These are not essentials - but they might make your stay extra special:
- Camping stove for a morning brew (outside use only please)
- A torch for moving about after dark
- Cups, plates and BBQ utensils
- Games (though we have some to borrow at reception)
- Ice box (we can 'recharge' ice packs at reception for a small fee)
- A massive smile, a good book and a sense of adventure!
Parking
Your Shepherds Hut booking includes parking for one car (unless otherwise specified for in booking email), and you can park directly behind the hut. We share our car park with the Country Park and there are parking enforcement cameras in use. Because of this, and despite being able t park behind Lola, it is very important that all guests check in at reception before pitching so we can enter your reg number and put your car on a parking permit for the duration of your stay. Extra car parking spaces can be purchased at cost of £5 per day. Stick by these simple rues and all will be ok, however if there are any problems with parking (cars not registered will automatically be sent a fine, which we have no control over) please contact us in the first instance.
Visitors to the site
If you have friends in the area they are welcome to visit you at the campsite, but please let us know in advance as there is a maximum number of people we allow on site and it is not always possible to accommodate visitors.
There is a charge of £5 per car for all visitors or £2 per person if there is no car. This includes the cost of parking. All guests must be off site by 10pm and we regret that if you have visitors which have not been checked into site then your whole party may be asked to leave the campsite with no refund.
Please note that your hut has a maximum capacity of people at any one time - no more people than there are beds in the hut please!

Camping Code
We promote family-friendly, low impact camping, so please respect our Country Park location. We are not a party site so no amplified music please, quiet enjoyment after 10pm and, whilst we love a good ale as much as anyone, if drinking to excess is going to form a large part of your weekend then we are not the site for you!
We basically ask that you respect the countryside and your fellow campers, and we staff the site at all times to make sure that no one person is spoiling another's holiday with inconsiderate behaviour. Please see our Camping Code page for more info. Thanks for your help with this!

What's On during your stay? From on site visits from the Wood Fired Pizza van to beer, arts, puppet and outdoor sports festivals in the Country Park, Norwich and beyond, there's always plenty to do in and around Whitlingham.
Click the link on the left and use our interactive calendar to find out what's on when you're here. |
Fire Pits & BBQs
Your hut comes with both a BBQ, an inside wood burner and an outside fire pit, so there's plenty of opportunity to practice your fire lighting skills!
In order to protect our environment, we do not allow disposable BBQs at all on site. Please leave them at home (or just don't buy one!).
Any party having a fire pit (either one rented from us or their own) must agree to and sign our fire policy. This is a simple set of rules to make sure that everyone enjoys a campfire in a safe and responsible manner. Marshmallow toasting is obligatory (with the exception of veggies)!

What to do When You (inevitably!) Forget Something
Don't panic! Our campsite shop sells a few camping essentials (Camping Gaz cartridges, marshmallows etc) and in the summer we have a small selection of local fruit and veg, bread, biscuits, drinks and ice creams.
Beyond the site, there is a cafe just across the road (2 mins walk) and the village shop (20 mins stroll) sells all the essentials. For bigger shops, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsburys are all no more than a 15 minute drive from the site.
